چکیده

A reformulation of the fluctuation-dissipation theorem of Callen and Welton is presented in such a manner that the basic idea of Feynman-Vernon and Caldeira -Leggett of using an infinite number of oscillators to simulate the dissipative medium is realized manifestly without actually introducing oscillators. If one assumes the existence of a well defined dissipative coefficient R(ω) which little depends on the temperature in the energy region we are interested in , the spontanous and induced emissions as well as induced absorption of these effective oscillators with correct Bose distribution automatically appears. Combined with a dispersion relation, we reproduce the tunneling formula in the presence of dissipation at finite temperature without referring to an explicit model Lagrangian. The fluctuation-dissipation theorem of Callen-Welton is also generalized to the fermionic dissipation (or fluctuation) which allows a transparent physical interpretation in terms of second quantized fermionic oscillators. This fermionic version of fluctuation-dissipation theorem may become relevant in the analyses of, for example, fermion radiation from a black hole and also supersymmetry at the early universe. Fluctuation-dissipation theorem and quantum tunneling with dissipation

We suggest to take the fluctuation-dissipation theorem of Callen and Welton as a basis to study quantum dissipative phenomena ( such as macroscopic quantum tunneling ) in a manner analogous to the Nambu-Goldstone theorem for spontaneous symmetry breakdown. It is shown that the essential physical contents of the Caldeira-Leggett model such as the suppression of quantum coherence by Ohmic dissipa...

QUANTUM TUNNELING IN MEDIUMS WITH LINEAR AND NONLINEAR DISSIPATION

We have applied the method of integration of the Heisenberg equation of motion proposed by Bender and Dunne, and M. Kamella and M. Razavy to the potential V(q) = v q - µ q with linear and nonlinear dissipation. We concentrate our calculations on the evolution of basis set of Weyl Ordered Operators and calculate the mean position , velocity , the commutation relation [q, p], and the energ...

M ar 1 99 7 A self - consistent treatment of damped motion for stable and unstable collective modes ∗

We address the dynamics of damped collective modes in terms of first and second moments. The modes are introduced in a self-consistent fashion with the help of a suitable application of linear response theory. Quantum effects in the fluctuations are governed by diffusion coefficients D µν. The latter are obtained through a fluctuation dissipation theorem generalized to allow for a treatment of ...

A Generalized Fluctuation-Dissipation Theorem for Nonlinear Response Functions

A nonlinear generalization of the Fluctuation-Dissipation Theorem (FDT) for the n-point Green functions and the amputated 1PI vertex functions at finite temperature is derived in the framework of the Closed Time Path formalism. We verify that this generalized FDT coincides with known results for n = 2 and 3. New explicit relations among the 4-point nonlinear response and correlation (fluctuatio...

Resistance of Josephson Junction Arrays at Low Temperatures

We study motion of vortices in arrays of Josephson junctions at zero temperature where it is controlled by quantum tunneling from one plaquette to another. The tunneling process is characterized by a finite time and can be slow compared to the superconducting gap (so that τ∆ >> 1). The dissipation which accompanies this process arises from rare processes when a vortex excites a quasiparticle ab...
